Hello and Thank You for Visiting My Boricua Genealogy Blog, Puerto Rikin!
My name is Phillip Luis Vélez, also known unofficially as Felipe Luis Vélez Viera Gómez, and I am a native New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent. A few years ago, I had my DNA tested which led to a great interest in my family tree and genealogy in general. I have been blogging since 2003 and thought I would create a blog specifically for my Puerto Rican kindred.
The aim of Puerto RiKin is to highlight my ancestors and hopefully find distant cousins and other kinship that are also working on learning more about our shared Puerto Rican roots. Though this blog will be focused on my family lines and heritage, another goal is to help others trying to find their ancestry by sharing the challenges and successes of my genealogical journey. I also have future plans to cover other Puerto Rican and non-Boricua family history.
